CANYON — West Texas A&M University’s campus and the city of Canyon came alive Saturday, Oct. 4, as students, alumni and community members gathered for the 2025 “Wild West Texas” Homecoming celebration, complete with a sun-splashed parade, festive tailgates and a decisive Buffaloes football victory.
Russell Long Boulevard filled with cheering crowds for the annual homecoming parade, featuring the WT Herdsmen leading mascot Thunder XV, with Thunder XVI following close behind on a trailer. Student organizations, cheerleaders, the university’s marching band and community groups showed off cowboy-themed floats as families lined the streets waving maroon flags and collecting candy beneath clear blue skies.
