A worker died after he was struck by a street sweeper at a construction site in Santa Fe Springs on Monday morning, Oct. 6, authorities said.
Whittier police got a call at 8:33 a.m. about the collision in the 10600 block of Carmenita Road, Lt. Mike Przybyl said, adding officers found the man pinned under the vehicle.
Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene. The medical examiner’s office had not yet publicly identified the man.
When the collision occurred, paving work was underway, the lieutenant said.
The man worked for Pave West, said Cora Hernandez, an administrative assistant at the Artesia-based company.
Pave West, its website says, is a “general engineering contractor specializing in all aspects of fine grading and asphalt paving.”
