CHICAGO — A judge allowed bond Monday for two people accused of impeding immigration officers this weekend in Brighton Park.
An ICE agent shot one of them for allegedly ramming an ICE vehicle.
It happened on Saturday on Chicago’s Southwest Side.
In the end, the judge said given both are us citizens, lifelong residents of Chicago with no criminal history, they can be released on bond, pending trial.
Marimar Martinez, 30, and Anthony Ruiz, 21, appeared at the detention hearing Monday.
Prosecutors called them a danger to the community.
Defense attorneys saying that’s far from the truth.
A federal complaint alleges both used their vehicles as dangerous weapons against federal agents.
