SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -The Community Partnership of the Ozarks is preparing for winter. It says volunteers are critically needed for its crisis cold-weather shelter sites .

When temperatures take a dive, CPO offers shelter to those in need. They currently need help to continue offering those services.

It needs at least 30 volunteers every night to keep the 13 shelters open. One of the roles often needed is someone willing to stay at the shelter overnight.

CPO says most of the volunteers only work once or twice a month, and they’re always paired with another volunteer.

“Even if folks don’t want to spend an overnight at a shelter, there’s plenty of opportunity around hospitality, pet transportation, cleaning, helping check people in, and checking people out in the morning,” said Emily
