A lawsuit has been filed against the Coronado Unified School District by the family of a seventh-grade student who died by suicide after what his parents said were instances of cyberbullying.
The lawsuit claims the school district failed to support Gabriel Palacios, 13, a student at Coronado Middle School, while he faced rampant bullying from other students. The suit was filed after the CUSD denied a legal claim made in late September.
Palacios took his own life earlier in April, a few months after he inadvertently shared a video over social media that included nude images of himself, according to the lawsuit filed last week in San Diego Superior Court.
