WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Congressional leaders remain stuck in a bitter standoff over a deal to fund the government and have shown no signs of any real progress on getting it back open. It’s the sixth day of the federal government shutdown.
Senators returned to Washington on Monday to try to pass a bill that would reopen the government. But hopes are low on Capitol Hill because none of the lawmakers appears to be budging and continue to blame their colleagues across the aisle.
Mike Johnson, Republican of Louisiana is Speaker of the House, “Democrats over here are playing games. We have one plea and one plea alone. We need a handful of Democrats to stop the madness, reopen the government.”
