Clothes worn by Montana Lewis were wet with blood when he was arrested by a police officer in November 2020, court heard on the first day of his trial.

Lewis is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sam Graham, 19. Graham was dating the twin sister of Lewis.

Const. Matthew Davies told assistant Crown attorney Matthew Caputo on Monday he was dispatched to a home Muriel Drive for a weapon in progress call. He saw three people when he arrived at the east-end home. There was male on the ground of a driveway, a hysterical woman and a male on the front lawn.

Lewis told Davies he stabbed Graham. Davies arrested Lewis for assault with a weapon. The officer, who joined Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in April 2020, said Lewis’s clothing looked wet and was saturated with a red tinge. I
