After the first day of the various state golf tournaments around Colorado, two exciting storylines emerged.
Fairview’s only two golfers, Ash Edwards and Miles Kuhl, led the entire field in 5A in Grand Junction, while Broomfield put on a full-team effort worthy of first place. The real question, now, is whether they’ll be able to hold onto their leads by the end of Day 2.
Lots of local representation packed all four classifications.
While Fairview couldn’t qualify its full team for the 5A state tournament, its two representatives certainly put the rest of the field on notice at Bookcliff Country Club in Grand Junction. Sophomore Ash Edwards stood alone atop the field with a 6-under par 65, followed closely by senior Miles Kuhl (66) and Castle View’s Gavin Amella in second.
