LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada's employment agency reached out to federal workers on Monday, offering assistance in getting unemployment benefits during the government shutdown.

More than 22,000 Nevadans work for the federal government, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"We are here to support federal workers affected by the shutdown," Christopher Sewell, director of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), said in a news release. “DETR is ready to assist Nevadans with unemployment benefits and reconnecting them to opportunities."
