The United States Postal Service (USPS) has launched a new defense against mail theft, a continued issue with nearly 1.7 million cases occurring daily, according to the anti-theft mail and package box company Adoorn .

In recent years, the USPS has implemented a few changes to combat the issue, like replacing traditional blue mail drop-off boxes with high security versions and creating tighter security measures for change-of-address procedures to deter mail thieves.

Now, the USPS has announced its latest method to prevent mail theft, the Informed Delivery mobile app.

Announced on Oct. 2 , the free service is meant to help customers manage their mail and packages by “allowing them to digitally preview their incoming letter-size mail and manage package deliveries.”
