CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Ports Authority’s Board of Directors announced a new president and chief executive officer on Monday.

Micah Mallace was unanimously voted to be the agency’s new leader after previous leader, Barbara Melvin, announced her resignation in August.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as the next President and CEO at SC Ports,” Mallace said. “The port team and South Carolina’s broader maritime community provide port service that is unmatched, and I know, together, we will further strengthen our competitiveness.”

Mallace previously served as president of Harbor Logistics, a company specializing in port drayage, warehousing and transload operations.
