SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Shreveport Fire Department is investigating the cause of a massive fire at the old Shreveport County Club this weekend.

The century-old Shreveport staple was completely destroyed by fire around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Days later, SFD is still monitoring hot spots and assessing the damage. Shreveport Fire Chief Clarence Reese says this was a 2-alarm fire, meaning more resources were required to extinguish the large blaze.

"The fire is under control. We would consider it under control. It's contained. There's a subfloor that we're trying to get to; we have heavy equipment that is being sought after right now from the owners and also from the city," said Chief Reese.
