The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Punjab and Haryana, warning of continuous rain over the next 36 hours.
In Punjab, rainfall is expected in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Firozpur, and nearby districts. Several regions of Haryana, including Ambala, Panchkula, Kaithal, Karnal, and Hisar, are also likely to experience heavy showers.
The IMD has predicted that weather conditions may begin to clear by October 8.
Meanwhile, the first snowfall of the season was recorded in Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, and Kinnaur districts of Himachal Pradesh and in Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand. According to IMD, rain and snowfall will continue in high-altitude regions for the next two days.
