BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) -- October is Depression Awareness Month.
According to America's Health Rankings, out of 48 states that had data available, West Virginia has the highest rate of depression in the nation with around 31% of people suffering from a depressive disorder.
Dr. Ahmed Faheem, a psychiatrist with Appalachian Psychiatric Services, said that is just what depression is, a disorder that can be treated.
He said sometimes all it takes is a simple conversation to get someone the help they need.
