Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that his administration’s use of tariffs not only boosted America’s economy but also helped prevent a potential war between India and Pakistan.
“If I didn’t have the power of tariffs, you would have at least four of the seven wars raging. I use tariffs to stop wars," Trump said as he responded to a question on whether he would shift his position on tariffs, insisting that his tariff strategy had been vindicated, both economically and diplomatically.
Referring to the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan amid India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, Trump claimed his intervention, tied to trade and tariffs, helped de-escalate the situation.
“If you look at India and Pakistan, they were ready to go at it. Seven planes were shot down. They were ready to go at it.
