ALLEN PARISH, La. (KALB) - Despite previous legal conundrums surrounding opposition to carbon capture sequestration projects, the Allen Parish Police Jury voted on October 6 to approve a resolution objecting to the issuance of CCS Class VI permits.

A police juror wishing to remain anonymous told KALB the resolution’s passage comes following public statements made by Governor Jeff Landry.

“On September 10, the governor told us that if we did not want these CO2 injections in our parish, then we would not have one,” the juror said. “This resolution is asking him to honor his word.”

The unnamed juror further explained the intent as to ‘simply’ represent the beliefs of their constituents, despite an intent to “not say negative things about industry.”
