LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - JCPS officials are deep into an ongoing effort to minimize a $188 billion budget deficit for the 2026-2027 school year.

“We are not at a point yet where we are comfortable, but we are making certain levels of progress towards getting a balanced budget,” said Superintendent Brian Yearwood.

Monday night, members of the JCPS Revenue Advisory Task Force, who have been meeting to learn more about where the district’s money is currently going, met again to talk about the district’s spending in terms of operations.

Chief Operations Officer Rob Fulk said construction, renovation and transportation is only going to get more expensive as time goes on.
