POINTE COUPEE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Pointe Coupee Parish leaders are hoping a new branding effort will help attract more visitors and tourism dollars to the area.

The parish unveiled its “Visit False River” campaign this week, which focuses on promoting False River as the centerpiece of local tourism and economic development.

Tourism is a major driver of Louisiana’s economy. In 2023, the industry generated $18 billion in visitor spending and nearly $2 billion in state and local tax revenue. Parish officials say rural communities like Pointe Coupee depend heavily on those dollars.

“For a rural parish, tourism is so important to economic development,” Wynne Waltman from The Grand Group said.
