An illegal beach fire has burnt a small area of bushland at Vincentia, just days after the Shoalhaven Rural Fire Service launched a new campaign targeting illegal foreshore campfires.

The fire on Collingwood Beach at Vincentia spread to neighbouring bushland about 1.30am on Monday, October 6, resulting in more than 10 calls to emergency services.

Four RFS trucks attended and quickly extinguished the fire which had burnt about 50 square metres of bushland along Elizabeth Drive.

It came just two days after the Shoalhaven RFS launched Operation Silent Ash, which has RFS marine crews patrolling waterways and speaking with campers and boaters about the risks posed by illegal foreshore campfires.
