New Delhi: Bhim Mahabahadur Jora (30), a criminal from Nepal, involved in multiple serious crimes, was shot dead in a police encounter at the Astha Kunj Park near Nehru Place in New Delhi.

According to officials, the operation was conducted by the Gurugram Crime Branch (Sector 43) and Delhi Police’s Special Staff late on Monday night. Inspector Narendra Sharma of the Sector 43 Crime Branch led the action. ADVERTISEMENT

“Acting on a specific tip-off about Jora’s presence in Astha Kunj Park with an associate, the joint police teams surrounded the area. Upon spotting the police, Jora opened indiscriminate fire while attempting to flee. Inspector Sharma was hit by a bullet on his bulletproof jacket,” an official said.
