Puri: As the holy month of Kartika began on Tuesday, a large number of Habisyalis from across Odisha thronged the pilgrim town of Puri to observe the special Rai Damodar Brata.

The district administration of Puri has made elaborate arrangements to accommodate Habisyalis who have arrived in the pilgrim town to observe the Kartika Brata. ADVERTISEMENT

As the Kartika Brata will continue till November 5, police personnel in strength have been deployed to ensure the safety and security of the Habisyalis and other devotees during the sacred month.

The state government has made arrangements for the Habisyalis at various centres in Puri including Brundabati Niwas, Bagala Dharmasala, Puri Municipality Kalyan Mandap, and the Railway Tourist Complex. These places are offering comfortable accommod
