L.A. Parking Meters Go Up to $1.50 an Hour and Will Soon Run on Sundays

Parking in Los Angeles is about to get pricier. In a 10-0 vote on Friday , the Los Angeles City Council approved the city’s first parking meter rate increase in more than a decade, raising prices from $1 to $1.50 per hour . The adjustment is expected to generate roughly $14.4 million in additional annual revenue beginning in fiscal year 2025–26, according to city estimates.

The council also directed the Department of Transportation (LADOT) to explore new fines for residents who leave garbage bins obstructing public pathways, part of a broader effort to improve street accessibility and pedestrian safety.
