Tamika Johnson's death was initially reported as a suicide.

Roderick Berry, a man she dated around a decade ago, told police that she shot herself.

Her mother didn't believe it for an instant.

"I knew my daughter didn't do that," Johnson's mother, Laura McCluney said. "Nothing out there could have bothered her that much for her to do that."
