The Maharashtra government on Monday announced a Rs 31,628-crore relief package to compensate farmers and citizens affected by the recent heavy rains and floods. The government assured that the entire relief package will be disbursed before Diwali.

Addressing a press conference with his deputy Eknath Shinde , Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis said all the farmers who suffered crop losses will receive an immediate cash relief of Rs 10,000. Read More

He added that this is the highest compensation package announced in the country this year, surpassing allocations for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

He further stated that damaged houses will be reconstructed under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana.
