In its continued efforts to promote a healthy, safe, and drug-free environment for students, Handwara Police, in collaboration with the Executive Magistrate Handwara, today conducted a special checking drive in Handwara town targeting shops located within a 100-meter radius of educational institutions.

The drive was part of an ongoing initiative to enforce the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (COTPA), which prohibits the sale of tobacco products near educational institutions.

During the course of checking, two shops were sealed for violating COTPA regulations, and a large quantity of tobacco products was seized on the spot. The action was
