Tenants were evacuated from a block of flats in Coventry amid a fire. West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has confirmed to CoventryLive that five people had to be led to safety in the early hours of this morning (October 7) as a result of the fire in the Whoberley area.
999 calls were made to report a fire in a two-storey block of flats on Lyndale Road at just before 3.15am. Two fire engines and a brigade response vehicle attended, crewed by firefighters from Coventry and Canley fire stations.
Fire crews also called for help from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS). An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene.
A WMFS spokesperson said there was a mobility scooter on fire in the ground floor lobby of the flats. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished
