A village playground has been razed after three homeowners took legal action against a parish council over the noise from football games.
Residents of the picturesque Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, are seething after council workers began to dismantle the sports pitch.
The multi-use games area (MUGA) was established in the village's Memorial Park in 2010 following a community fundraising initiative.
However, shortly thereafter, Dr Merren Jones, Stephen Covey-Crump and David Howe lodged complaints with the council about the sound of "bouncing footballs" striking the metal sides.
They argued that the MUGA violated planning guidelines as it was situated just a few metres from the nearest house, leading them to take the council to court in 2021.
