Metro Bank customers were majorly impacted earlier after a glitch was detected in its payment services.

Those who bank with the giant reported issues such as payments being duplicated, with some even left with negative balances in their accounts as a result.

Many logged their problems on Download Detector, with a surge of issues lodged between 6.30 am and 10.30am this morning (October 7).

Customers took to social media to ask Metro Bank and others if they were suffering from the same issues, with one person writing: "@AndyMilliganuk @Metro_Bank I’m glad someone else is having this same issue, mine telling me -£1000+, can’t get in any contact with them to resolve this issue either."
