Sresan, that is behind the Coldrif syrup, the consumption of which has led to the deaths of several children in Madhya Pradesh, is now under the scanner. According to NDTV Profit, the company was reportedly started as a private limited company in 1990 and was restarted as a proprietorship later.

Following the deaths in Madhya Pradesh, several states, including Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have banned the cough syrup while several other states have issued advisories for its usage.
