HMRC issues six-month deadline warning to anyone self-employed View Image
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued a reminder to all self-employed workers that they have only six months to prepare for a major shake-up. In less than a year, the Making Tax Digital for Income Tax must be used by all self-employed workers who get income from self-employment, property, or both and have a qualifying income of more than £30,000.
Bear in mind that qualifying income refers to the total gross income a worker receives in a tax year from both self-employment and property. Currently, the service is not mandatory as long as a self-employed person's qualifying income is £30,000 or less.
