A fresh political storm has gripped Mizoram after former Chief Minister and Mizo National Front (MNF) president Zoramthanga lashed out at the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government for its approval of the Forest Conservation (Amendment) Act (FCAA), calling it a “betrayal” of the state’s constitutional safeguards.

Addressing MNF workers at the party’s Hnam Run headquarters in Aizawl on Monday, Zoramthanga accused the ZPM-led government of “hastily embracing” the controversial FCAA, warning that it endangers Mizoram’s autonomy under Article 371(G) of the Constitution.
