Householders have been left shocked by the number of ladybirds they are discovering in their homes this autumn. The tiny insects have been spotted on window sills and walls around UK homes, leading people to take to social media to discuss their findings.
One user wrote on X, formerly Twitter, yesterday: "I don’t know what’s going on, but there are loads of ladybirds outside casually swarming around my house!" Another said: "Ladybirds, everywhere! Is this the equivalent of flying ant day?"
However, experts are urging people not to panic, claiming that the sudden surge in ladybird sightings is due to the annual autumn migration as the little creatures seek shelter ahead of the colder months.
