KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Marleah Campbell grew up watching KCTV5 broadcasts. Years later, she is leading the station’s sports department, earning regional recognition for her work.

The Kansas Association of Broadcasters has awarded Marleah with its Rising Star recognition, which “celebrates emerging broadcasters who have made a significant impact on their stations and communities.”

From the time she was in fifth grade, reading her sister’s Shawnee Mission West high school newspapers, Marleah had wanted to pursue journalism. Eventually, the Lenexa native became the editor-in-chief for that same paper. So the journalism seemed to be her career path of choice.
