DUNLAP ( 25News Now ) - Dunlap Community Unit School District 323 is set to bring a major addition to the community for a hefty chunk of change.

This comes after Peoria’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved the district’s request for a special use permit to build the school in a single-family residential district. Also, the school board agreed to issue up to $44 million in bonds to build a new elementary school on North Pacific Street, right behind Wilder-Waite Elementary School.

Superintendent Scott Dearman said the building is expected to be two stories tall and more than 80,000 square feet. He said it would be built to accommodate up to 740 students, but the district only plans to have about 600 in there.
