DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- University of Dayton is investigating a reported airsoft shooting that happened in vicinity of the campus Monday.

According to a campus alert that was sent out yesterday, the Department of Safety is investigating after report of four students being fired at by the driver of a red sedan.

The incident reportedly took place on Brown Street minutes before 4:30 p.m.

"Public Safety received a report at 4:20 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6 that the single occupant of a red sedan drove north on Brown Street near Stewart Street and fired projectiles at four students walking on the sidewalk. The driver then turned around, drove south on Brown Street and fired projectiles at them again."
