Hearing the pleas challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in poll-bound Bihar, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said that there is some confusion over the Election Commission of India’s final list of electors.

The Court sought to know whether the names added in the final list were of the new voters or of those who were previously deleted from the draft electoral roll the poll panel had released earlier.

The petitioners had been demanding the commission to publish the list of 3.66 lakh voters who were deleted additionally from the final list and the names of 21 lakh voters included in the electoral roll.

Responding to their demand, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi made these remarks orally.
