The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps are celebrating their 250th anniversary with a line up of events beginning this week and continuing throughout October and November.

A group of volunteers with ties to the Navy and Marines called Homecoming 250 is putting on anniversary celebrations.

The Homecoming 250 events will be held in the Delaware Valley area at locations across Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. The festivities will kick off with an opening ceremony on Oct. 9.

The majority of events for Homecoming 250 will take place between Oct. 9 and Oct. 25, but several gatherings for the Marine Corps will also be held in November.
