World Cotton Day is celebrated on 7th October every year globally. The day serves as a reminder of cotton's immense contribution to the global economy, trade, and sustainable livelihoods. It was first celebrated on October 7, 2019, at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva.
The day is recognised as one of the most widely produced natural fibres, which is cultivated in more than 75 countries across five continents. Cotton supports millions of people, especially in least developed countries (LCDs), where it remains a key source of income and employment.
