Parts of the Upper Peninsula could see their first hard freeze Tuesday, Oct. 7, and much of northern Michigan could have frost, according to the National Weather Service.

A freeze warning has been issued for western areas in the Upper Peninsula as temperatures could fall low as 28 degrees tonight for inland areas of central and western Upper Michigan.

The freeze warning for Tuesday night extends across North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Through 10 a.m. Oct. 8, the weather service is warning sub-freezing temperatures could affect Baraga, Delta, Dickinson, Iron, Marquette, Menominee, Gogebic, Ontonagon and Houghton counties.

Temperatures are expected to be as low as 33 degrees in Luce, Keweenaw, Alger, Schoolcraft and northern Houghton counties, according to the NWS ,
