CHARLES TOWN - Washington coach Bryant Currence's main goal was to have his golfers playing their best at the end of the season when it matters the most.

On Monday, the Patriots were the best team on the golf course once again, as they cruised to a Class AAAA, North Region title at Locust Hill Golf Course, winning by an impressive 12 strokes.

Washington, which had all four of its golfers in the top 12, including three in the top 10, finished with a winning total of 223 and was followed by Wheeling Park (235), Morgantown (238), University (244), Martinsburg (252), Jefferson (257), Hedgesville (266), Preston (272), Musselman (287) and Spring Mills (266).

The top four teams - both Patriots teams, the Mohigans and Hawks - advanced to next week's state tournament in Wheeling.
