TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tropical Storm Jerry formed in the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday.
The storm has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is located about 1,315 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Jerry is moving toward the west at 24 mph.
It is expected to be near or north of the northern Leeward Islands on Thursday and Friday. From there, it is forecast to turn out to sea.
Jerry is expected to become a hurricane in the next day or two, NHC forecasters said.
