SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California (KOLO) - The El Dorado County DA’s Office has opened a case against South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Wallace.

They are investigating alleged embezzlement after Wallace admitted in an open letter to using her role as bookkeeper for the Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church in order to move funds.

Their office did not provide further comment on the investigation.

The amount of money taken has not been released, and it is not clear when the church became aware of the situation.

Wallace says she admitted to the theft of her own volition, not because she was going to be caught.

She has not resigned as Mayor.
