Manipur’s healthcare system is heading toward a crisis as the Association of Healthcare Providers India – Manipur State Chapter (AHPI-MSC) on Tuesday warned that 43 private hospitals across the state will begin charging patients under the CMHT and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) schemes directly from November 6, unless the government clears long-pending reimbursements.

Patients would then have to seek refunds only after the state releases the dues.

At a press conference held at IMA Hall, Imphal, AHPI leaders —Dr. Palin, Dr James Elangbam, and Dr Shyamkumar, Medical Superintendent of Babina Hospital, said that prolonged non-payment has pushed private hospitals into severe financial distress.
