Police activity in the neighborhood of two Allentown schools prompted lockdowns Tuesday morning, district officials said.

Melissa Reese, Allentown School District spokeswoman, told lehighvalleylive.com the lockdowns were at William Allen High School, 106 N. 17th St., and Francis D. Raub Middle School, 102 S. St. Cloud St.

The lockdowns began around 10:30 a.m. with the high school lasting about an hour and a half and the middle school lasting about an hour. All parents were notified at the start and end of each lockdown, Reese said.

During lockdowns, all school access is restricted, meaning no one is allowed to enter or leave the building until the threat is cleared and the lockdown is officially lifted by authorities.
