There have been a ton of comic conventions taking place this year, and with October finally here, we’re gearing up for New York Comic Con, where yet again, cosplay enthusiasts will show up and show out, especially when it comes to the Black nerds, also known as blerds. There was once a time when people, especially Black nerds, were made to feel ashamed of being part of certain fandoms and definitely for indulging in cosplay. But that’s over. It’s time to own the dramatics, the fun, the flash and the flare. For blerds, cosplay is about making a grand statement that says we’re here and we’re fabulous, even in the costumes we put on, and making an excellent case for cosplay every day.
