A number of police officers who shared inappropriate and discriminatory messages in a WhatsApp group have been banned from the service. The communications, between April 2020 and February 2022, included offensive comments relating to protected characteristics such as race, religion, disability, sex, and sexual orientation.
The six officers, who were based in Peterborough , also made insulting remarks about colleagues and shared police data on a non-approved platform without a policing purpose. They also failed to challenge or report improper conduct.
