GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One day before the state of Michigan was set to run out of short-term funding keeping its government open, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed a flurry of bills that, together, make up the state's full annual budget plan.
The bills make up tens of billions in spending, including a estimated $51.8 billion general government budget , meant to fund state departments and services, and a roughly $24.1 billion school aid budget for the state's K-12 public education system and higher education like colleges and universities.
