One Bay Area man’s love for tennis is taking him across the globe, but he’s far different than most other players for one big reason: his age.
Art Lind, 97, plays tennis and pickleball, and he spends most of his time working out in the gym.
“My cardiologist looked at me about two weeks ago and he says, ‘You’re good. Your heart is going to last you as long as you live,'” Art said.
Art’s son, Jeff, recently signed Art up to play in an international tennis federation tournament for seniors over 90. They leave for Croatia Tuesday morning.
“At first I thought it would be out of the question,” Art said. “Then I got to thinking. There are not too many of us playing tennis at my age. I’m not sure I belong on the same court with these guys, but I’m going to go anyway and play the best I can.”
