After declaring bankruptcy earlier in the year, all Rite Aid locations across the nation have officially closed.

The drugstore chain announced its formal closure on its website : “All Rite Aid stores have now closed. We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support.”

Why did all Rite Aids close?

Rite Aid first filed for bankruptcy in October 2023, with plans to sell parts of the business and restructure. Various locations across the country were sold or shut down following the original bankruptcy claim.

With less stores, the company tried to focus on more efficient operating models.

But in May, Rite Aid had to once again file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. With the announcement of the second bankruptcy filing came the decision to close all locations.
