CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man has been charged with murder after a person was found dead at a park in northeast Charlotte Monday afternoon, officials say.

Around 4:02 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to Devonshire Park in the 6300 block of Barrington Drive for reports of an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.

The victim was found in a wooded area behind the park with a large open wound in his stomach. Medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim has yet to be identified by police, but a police report confirms the victim is a 35-year-old Hispanic man.

During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video at a nearby Shell gas station and observed the victim assaulting a man with a large wooden stick and a slingshot. Police say t
